| Gold "Scale"- | Pure Gold is 24kt (or 24 parts gold)
The gold "scale" is based off of 24 parts. Unless the gold is 24kt (pure gold)
than it is mixed with some other base metal. The less gold there is the harder
the product. Ex- 10kt gold is harder than 14kt gold. |
| Color Variation- | The differences in the base metal that is mixed with the gold is what causes color variation. |
| Gold Filled- | Gold Filled is the next best thing to 10kt or 14kt gold.
It is made by laminating a sheet of 10kt, 14kt, or more to a base metal
with high pressure and temperature. The total amount of gold must be at least 1/20 or 5% of the total
weight of the product. "Gold Filled" will wear very well and will last for years and years. Some people wear Gold Filled Jewelry for a lifetime. |
